I haven't posted for an age. Perhaps bullet points would be easier?
- Work situation got more awkward. Became obvious that organisation wasn't going to get fixed anytime in the near future; and it's the sickness in the organisation which ultimately causes the problems with Nice But Disorganised Co-Worker, and Crap Management.
forbinproject got shiny new job and started coming home in the evening all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. I get very itchy feet...
- Handed in notice on the last working day before Christmas. Bugger the pension and the holidays, sanity is more important - and a 3 month notice period is so long it might jeopardise getting a plum job.
- As of yesterday have shiny new job with Which? Online, with a substantial pay hike and good terms & conditions. Leaving here at the end of the month, starting there 7 Feb.
- Evil Property Developer loses the fourth consecutive Planning Inspectorate appeal. The inspector's report is borderline sarcastic in the strongest yet rejection of EPD's arguments.
- New Vaio laptop has arrived to replace the one nicked in the burglary.
Brilliant!

Date: 2007-01-10 11:34 pm (UTC)I'm wondering if there are timekeeping record requirements that an organisation doesn't have to do if its employees opt out. Or something.
Re: Brilliant!
Date: 2007-01-11 07:40 pm (UTC)The extra clause is actually the statutory right of anyone who has opted out. Simon has that too. Most companies fail to point it out to their employees but the person who wrote your contract both knows their stuff and has been professional in including the opt-in clause.
All organisations need to keep accurate records of the number of hours their employees take and the breaks they have been allowed, opted-out or otherwise. If someone repeatedly worked 60 hours per week for example, even if they had opted-out, if they had an accident the employer would have failed in its duty to provide safe working practice and could be sued as such.
