Stationery woes (am getting nowhere, har har...)

I need a couple of 3-ring binders. Not the standard A4 2-ring or 4-ring, or lever arch, but suitable for US letter sized manuals, which have been pre-punched with 3 holes. Understandably there wouldn't seem to be a lot of demand in the UK so I can't find anyone to sell me some.

I've tried Amazon.com, but their various in-store franchises won't ship to the UK. Also had a look on eBay, but again couldn't find anyone who would post here.

Any ideas?

PS
They're needed to store the manuals that come with these Elizabethan costume patterns. I could re-punch the lot and keep them in UK 2-ring binders, but it would be so much neater to store them in the binders they're designed for.

PPS
Am using 'can't find binders' as a pathetic excuse not to start on the costumes. Except that I don't want the pages to get lost and out of order...

Go have a look in a big newsagents for one of those 'collect-a-set' magazines - the ones that do a free binder with the first issue. They're often 3-ring.

The other option is Leisure Games - give them a ring and ask because the standard way of storing Magic: The Gathering cards (and other CCGs) is in three ring binders.

talked to them... they're too wide. I need US letter-size, and the card albums are significantly wider.
(The guy said, if I found a supplier, he'd be interested!)

fairy snuff - the only other stuff I can find that's three ring are either postcard or stamp collectors albums.

Final thought, then I'll be getting on with my work ... (no, I will, really ...)

Poke [livejournal.com profile] thomryng when he comes online and see if you can work a deal where he posts the binders to you and you send him money / goods in return?

I can send you some. Just regular three-ring binders, right?

[identity profile] westernind.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! yes!

Just regular boring 3-ring binders. I have four manuals, each is about half an inch thick, they might even all fit in one binder, or certainly in two.

I'm roz at horton dot net...

Can do Paypal - or send you UK goodies (jar of marmite? chocolate hobnobs?) in return.

Hobnobs yes! Marmite no!

Have emailed you --mine is queergranny at earthlink dot net.

I'm given to understand that Americans don't get Green and Black's Chocolate ... :-)

I can't remember exactly, but isn't US letter size slightly smaller in both dimensions than A4? If so, you could temporarily use clear A4 punched pockets to put the patterns in a standard A4 four ring file until you can get hold of a bizarre colonial sized binder.

I've got some I'm not using! The silly English clear plastic pockets don't fit in them... }:)

I should be able to dig some out this weekend. How many are you looking for?? xox

[identity profile] westernind.livejournal.com 2005-07-20 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
a couple, but [livejournal.com profile] mrs_munt is sending me some. :-)
If you want to get rid though, I can give them house room. I know a couple of other people are buying the same patterns for Venice Carnivale costume, so will have the same problem!

I'd be happy to help, if you like.

I mean, I work right down the street from an office suppy store - more binders than you could possibly use.

Size? Colour? Horrible cartoon covers?

If all other plans fail, I am sure I have a couple around here somewhere...
