Dohanyi has pulled out of the Philharmonia Orchestra + Philharmonia Chorus Beethoven's Ninth concerts. Although by all accounts it's no great loss - and we now get Sir Charles Mackerras instead! (*cheering and applause*: he conducted us in the Mozart Requiem the year before last.)

In case anyone is interested, dates are:
Cardiff, Friday 26th January, St David's Hall
Birmingham, Tuesday 30th January, Symphony Hall
Bristol, Thursday 1st February, Colston Hall
Haven't sung in Bristol before so that'll be interesting. I note they're the only ones who've changed the website to show that Mackerras will be conducting.

[livejournal.com profile] greatbigshowoff: I won't be able to stay over in Cardiff, bah! as I need to be in London at 11am on the Saturday.

Just as well, really, as we're both in Iceland - I think we had you pencilled in for the following weekend.

Shame we won't be able to see you - although do remember there's now a [livejournal.com profile] eldelphia in the vicinity...

Are you travelling there and back for the Brum concert on the day or do you need somewhere to stay?

Going there and back. The following day is my last day at work so I really need to be back for that!

OOo yes, can't miss that little celebration!

We will be in the audience watching and listening. Although wary of the Schoenberg, I'm a big fan of Ludwig and will finally get to attend a performance of the ninth. 'Rah!

And congratulations on the latest defeat of EPD.

Well, I was going to tout the idea around a bit, but Dan kinda took the initiative in the loveliest of ways.

I e-mailed him at lunchtime having just read about it asking if he fancied going, half an hour later I got an e-mail back saying yes and the tickets are booked. Really sweet huh?

However, we are in the Upper Circle (B13 and B14) apparently if you can manage to get something in that area!
