Is it a standard contract term to be asked to opt out of the Euro Working Time Directive? It was in Simon's contract too; I'd expect it from a hardnosed bespoke software company, but I was kind of surprised to get it myself. However, there's an extra clause in mine saying that I can give three months' notice to opt back in again.
I'm wondering if there are timekeeping record requirements that an organisation doesn't have to do if its employees opt out. Or something.
