NWO-lurgy kicked in good style last night, the chesty cough stage. Poor [livejournal.com profile] forbinproject had to decamp to the spare room and I'm knackered through lack of sleep. So those of you who've had it - will I feel better tomorrow? Please say yes, I have a presentation to do that's been put off once already, and an external consultant coming in all day.

The cough stage lasts a few days, I'm afraid.

That said, since you is a good non-smoker, maybe less.

Sorry but I doubt it, I still have a mild chesty cough now and picked it up last Monday (though admittedly I have feeble asthma lungs right now and so me be extra-susceptable to such colds)

Can't comment on the length of illness but I can recommend drugs. The 'cold & flu' remedies on the marketplace do actually work to clear out any bunginess and chestiness. I was very sceptical at first. I'd pop a couple of pills pre-presentation. There are night time remedies that knock you out too.

I've always wondered if they actually stop the symptoms, cold duration stays the same but is less unpleasant; or whether they postpone them, there being a certain amount of ickness that has to come out.

I think the cold duration stays the same but is less unpleasant. They treat the symptoms. If you think about it, you clear the ick out as it is formed (otherwise you would drown - literally). By treating the symptoms, you cause yourself to generate less ick throughout the cold. Always a sensible answer........*hits self*

I actually think everyone is responding differently to this bug.

I have been vaguely ill since last Tuesday, slightly sore throat, catarrh, sore sinuses, but have been able to function pretty much all the time, except that I flake out and go to sleep about 3pm every day.

This does not seem to fit with anyone else's reported symptoms.

My remedy would be to get as much sleep as possible today - if necessary by bailing out of work and snoozing the rest of the afternoon away. It's your best bet for tomorrow.

Fairly sore throat. Occasional hacking cough. General achiness in the lower lumbar region.

Are we sure that a frustrated Penan didn't set off a mild form of The Plague just so he could get to use his rats?

For me, any general achiness in the lower lumbar region would be masked by the lateral bulge pressing on the nerve at S4/S5. Surgery to follow shortly I hope.

[personal profile] caddyman has previously suggested that Penan may be To Blame.

I can find no fault with this theory.

Two weeks tomorrow since I came down with this wretched bug and I'm still struggling with the cough. That said, today I have NOT taken any more doses of Contact for the first time since NWO.

On the plus side, others seem to have kicked it much faster so I have my fingers crossed for you to be one of the lucky ones! :o)
