Back at work - and no crises :-)

Didn't go to
jimfer's birthday festivities at the weekend, as
forbinproject had inked "Keep Free" into my diary for a surprise outing on Saturday. Nice boyfriend, gets many telepathy biscuit points - not 'Just One' - as this turned out to be:
Voice has been coming and going over the last couple of weeks. Weirdly, I opened my mouth just now to speak to Jonathon the Co-Worker and all that issued was a strangulated high-pitched squeak. He's finding this quite funny. I'm finding it rather disconcerting. It's freezing in here, but as it's the first Monday in October the heating should be going on. It's a public institution, you know the score - heating ON first week in October, heating OFF last week in March. No matter what the weather outside is doing.
Finally I may lose my B-Movie cherry this Friday. Would be interested to know who out there is going?

- a trip to the Lord of the Rings exhibition at the Science Museum. Omigosh costume frenzy. You can't take cameras in, but a sketchbook is almost as good. Viatrix, my Grand Design character, will hopefully be wearing a version of Arwen's travelling dress at the next event; it's feminine but suitable for adventuring, and I want to get out a lot more. The sleeves show as gold in that photo but they're actually silver organza. Also spent about twenty minutes sketching the costume labelled as 'Dwarf Ambassador' - actually Gimli I think - which was a symphony of plaited leather/suede trim and heavy textured fabrics. Saruman also good, but nothing you couldn't think of yourself - only with unlimited time and money, more so. Eowyn's white dress is a simpler version of a copy of the Pre-Raphaelite 'Accolade' dresss I made for my character Leri a while back, so shouldn't be hard to reproduce.
Oh, there was armour and stuff as well. But gimli gimli gosh! - ...then onto the London Eye, after sunset, lights winking all the way from Canary Wharf to Alexandra Palace. There was a floodlit steeple between St. Paul's and the river which I couldn't identify; if things get (even more) slack this afternoon will find a map on teh intaweb
- ...and ending up at Chez Gerard for scrummy food.
