Family stuff
Feb. 19th, 2006 08:30 pmWe've discovered what's wrong with my mother - why she keeps falling over. It's probably 'diabetic amyotrophy', where the nerves are damaged; the signals between her feet and brain are messed up. The doctor says it's either that or the thing that Stephen Hawking has (but we reckon the chances of the latter are fairly low as she doesn't know much about physics). Good thing is, with her blood sugar level under control, it might get better.
News too on the side of my family that contains all the badly behaved emotional inadequates. My poisonous stepmother - who refused to let her two sons be told that they had a set of half-siblings until the issue was forced when the elder turned 18 - has failed to get elected as a Liberal MP for some years now. Last time I saw my father he went on at length about how much he was looking forward to working the European Parliament's expenses system if she got in as an MEP. We didn't think he was joking, either, hence much rejoicing in this household when only two LibDems got in from her area, and she was third on the list. Unfortunately one of the incumbents turned into a UK MP last May, so she got bumped up. Saved the cost of a byelection I guess, but don't expect the Euro MP expenses bill to fall anytime soon.
