busy but happy
Feb. 13th, 2005 10:28 pmLooking after a fairly immobile person is more work than I thought. In no way do I begrudge it - it feels like an act of love - but it does mean that the original ambitious list of tasks to be ticked off had undergone a severe culling by the beginning of the weekend. Heaven forfend that I should just sit on the sofa and do nothing apart from watch a DVD and talk to my beloved, although we did manage just that on a couple of occasions.
Other things wot I did... got Graham the Bathroom Fitter round to opine knowledgeably about the damage to the kitchen ceiling. Looks like his erstwhile assistant did a bad job applying mastic on the shower tray, which has subsequently slowly leaked. He's coming back on Monday to do repairs. Re-hung the door to the washing machine cupboard so it doesn't have to be physically lifted - oh, what the hell, forget the boring list of minutiae. Woman Fix Stuff.
We also read up on the Odyssey rule system and background, and sketched out characters. Simple enough to easily comprehend, with an infinite possibility of complex roleplay. Frothfrothfroth :-)
I do seem to have spent a lot of time in the kitchen since last Wednesday. This has made me even more grateful, were it possible, for
forbinproject's usual share of the household covenant service. I quite like the occasional bit of cooking, and it was fun to make lunch for
gsw and Roo sans LJ, and then after
jimfer and Julie sans LJ arrived later, Italian pasta soup for everyone. (And it meant that they didn't have to leave any earlier, so we could continue to enjoy their company.) However, over the long term, I prefer the role of Junior Minister for Baking rather than to take on the whole departmental portfolio.
forbinproject is allowed to put weight on his foot from tomorrow. Perhaps this will stop him using a crutch to propel himself up the stairs two at a time? Despite this, I'm still in charge of cooking for a while yet.
And finally... it wasn't Valentine's Day today. Therefore the beautiful, thoughtfully chosen and much appreciated silver and polished rose quartz pendant that Himself gave me cannot be a Valentine's present. And therefore we cannot have succumbed to commercialism. ;-)
