Kat, it wasn't your fault that I couldn't make Ana into a real character.
The writing is poetic and evocative. Ana is steeped in the traditions of the Rom, has an intuitive approach, feels rather than thinks. In my mind's eye beforehand I could see her - but when it came to the event, I didn't have it in me - it's a gap in my roleplaying ability.
My difficulty was that I'm too pragmatic and need specifics - something concrete to grasp onto - this is my deficiency, not yours. If a different person had played this character they would have made a stunning job of it - say Cam, or Jude, or you yourself, or Helen P.
Why choose LJ to say this? Because you've said before that the phone isn't your best communication medium, and because people know you're unhappy and angry, and I want them to know it wasn't your fault so LJ is better than email.
Please don't give it up. It's so not worth walking away from something you're good at and you've previously enjoyed. I don't subscribe to the 'it's only a game' theory as my experience is that if you don't take it personally, you haven't put your heart into it. I'm just really sorry that I couldn't make her work.
