So - I went to Cambria Solutions this afternoon, and they gave me a paycheque and a P45. However, I only realised when I got home and thought about it - they've shortchanged me. I should be paid up to Friday 2nd November, but they only paid to 31st October. It could be an innocent error, because 31st Oct, up to lunchtime, was the last day I worked... but I did tell them it was because I was owed two and a half days' holiday.
So I've sent them a stiff email asking for a cheque and a revised P45.
The worst case is I get 2/365 of my annual salary, but it probably should be figured on number of working days or something... say 2/240. Anyone work in HR or know someone, who can tell me what I should tell them?
Actually, the worst case is we do the small claims court thing...

In other news, World War 3 seems to have started outside. I suppose it might be a very large firework, but it sounds more like heavy anti-aircraft missile bombardment.

It was £9.99 in Argos. Half the usual price, it starts cooking in less than a minute, dim sum takes 20 mins, rice comes out all fluffy, and all the bits go in the dishwasher. And it has a timer which automatically switches the steamer off. And it's a healthy way to cook. And I've actually read the instruction book now so am not reliant on Himself to tell me how it works.

This last statement may not ring true to those wot as knows me, but for some reason, possibly because Himself unpacked it, the steamer had firkled itself mistakenly into the category of Telecommunications Entertainment Device. TEDs are fundamentally incomprehensible, accessorised as they are by multiple button boxes, strange square cables and tentacular decision trees. Apparently I have several thousand [estimated] cable channels at present, but the viewing of any of them requires knowing how to set the TV to the right number. I do not need this information *.

Sherlock Holmes didn't need to know that the earth revolved round the sun. It only takes up valuable mental real estate that could otherwise be filled with... say... comics trivia...?

*unless Alan Titchmarsh is on.
