good news - mostly
Oct. 29th, 2002 11:13 amthe grandmother update... happily (I think) it transpires that Gran isn't as ill as the care home told my mother. What seems to have happened is that Gran does have bronchial pneumonia and needs a bit of oxygen and to be in hospital for a couple of days, maybe till the end of the week, while antibiotics do their work.
Except that the care home don't want her back. Mum thinks that they've exaggerated the situation to get her into hospital, and then are refusing to take her again because she takes too much looking after. So now there'll be a barney between Harrow Social Services, the care home, and Northwick Park Hospital, who obviously can't discharge her when she's a bit better, unless there's somewhere else for her to go. Living at Mum's isn't an option because it's 80 miles away and she does need special nursing care.
But she isn't going to die, at least not unless something goes wrong or she gets MRSA, and I can go visit her and Mum in my days off before starting the new job. And think about mortality. Thank-you to people out there :-)
